Talenthouse is an online platform where creatives can share, vote and sell their work. The startup was founded in 2009 and is based in Palo Alto, California. It gained momentum during last year through high profile collaborations with artists and brands such as Nokia, Florence and the Machine or Lady Gaga.
Painters, Photographers, Designers or Musicians promote their work and find potential clients or buyers. But its core advantage resides on the ‘creative invites’ – the collaborations with brands and famous artists who send a request to the Talenthouse community.
The terms are settled on a case-by-case basis. So far, it is still unclear how does the startup monetise, except from eventually charging the established brands for their ‘creative invites’. The community is growing at a steady pace, though. It has more than 30,000 fans on Facebook and it is currently the best performer on our SI Rank, with a score of 2.10 and a 1.17 growth.
Talenthouse works on the principle of crowdsourcing. Asking the crowd to come up with the best products has proved to be a successful model. Companies like Made.com or Threadless are examples of businesses based on crowdsourcing. Threadless, one of the pioneers of crowdsourcing, has been selecting and printing t-shirt designs for 10 years now. Made.Com sources from the crowd furniture designs that are then made to order and delivered for an affordable price. Threadless thrived in the furniture and t-shirt businesses, respectively.
